Success stories for chained dogs.
For the first five years of Kisses life, he was chained to a tree and with no shelter, no doghouse, nothing. FLAG donated a doghouse and ROCK built a fenced enclosure for him to run around in. His owner said that Kisses slept for almost three days. He finally felt safe and secure from the roaming dog packs and bears that live in the wooded areas around Kisses home.
Rick was chained to this tree his whole life just walking in circles.
Rick is free to run and play in a large fenced enclosure. No more dragging around heavy chains.
You can see the small circle of dirt that Rick patroled day and night. He was unable to run or play. He dragged a heavy chain behind him constantly. Rick was unaltered, had worms, and was very thin. Rick was getting neurotic and depressed. With alot of patience and compassion, ROCK was able to convince the owner to allow us to neuter Rick and build him a play yard. Today, Rick is a happy healthy boy who loves running and playing in his new enclosed play yard.
Dusty chained with no shelter
Dusty is free to run and play. A house and straw were added the next day.
See the Youtube video of Dusty's freedom from chains on our Video Page!!! The video was shot by Emily Setelin and edited by Emily and her mom, Brenda Setelin. Thank you so much Emily, Brenda and our awesome volunteers for coming out in the morning cold to help free this wonderful dog from his shackles. Remember. DOGS ARE NOT LAWN ORNAMENTS.
The manly men of ROCK building Sugar's new safe enclosure
ROCKer Tara is getting some Sugar love in her new pen!!
ROCK discovered Sugar during a "hayride" through Goochland country side. Sugar and her babies had a rickety enclosure, no straw and a less than desireable shelter. Sugar's owner, Andre, was very happy to accept our help. ROCK spayed Sugar and spay/neutered the puppies. ROCKer Kim adopted one puppy and her friend adopted another one. The rest were taken in by FLAG, a Goochland Rescue. With the owner's help and the amazing ROCK volunteers (ROCKers), Sugar got her new enclosure on 3/13/2011!!
During one of ROCK's hayrides through Goochland County, we saw Princess in the road and immediately stopped to help her. Her owners were very receptive to a spay and fenced enclosure. Princess received her fenced enclosure on 2/27/2011.
Jake spent his life tied to a tree. In this pic, he is tied to the front porch while his new fenced enclosure is built.
Jake LOVES his new fenced enclosure. He never has to worry about a ball getting out of reach again!!
ROCK received a tip through the website about Jake. ROCK also received an email. Jake lives on a very busy road with a bus stop right by his new enclosure. Jake can now say good morning and good afternoon to the school kids as they get on and off their buses!!!
The images you see are success stories of Rescue of Chained K9s (ROCK). ROCK was able to speak with the owners to free these dogs from the misery of being chained.
If you would like to volunteer for a fence build, please contact us. We are always looking for volunteers and fosters to help these chained dogs.
Dogs are supposed to part of your family and man's best friend. They are not a lawn ornaments.
